Tevy N Reflection post

This unit was on direct and inverse variations, linear equations, and inequalities with graphing. i thought it was hard at first but once i went over the notes from class and notes in the textbook, i was able to understand it. But sometimes i dont understand how you solve absolute value inequalities from a line that shows two points, open/or closed cirlcles, with the shading. And sometimes i get confused on finding the value of x or y for direct/inverse varitations. I think we should go over it a little more in class than online.

  1. Hi Tevy -

I agree solving inequalities is complicated. The problems are many steps, require precision, and an early error is deadly. They take lots of care and practice to get good at them.

If you can remember inverse means xy=a constant number and direct means that y/x = a constant number, you're halfway there. Look again through the notes from Day 2 and the problems on page 2-3 of the packet.

As for time spent in class...I would have loved to spend about 4 days on variation, however NY requires us to get through a ton of topics this year. We unfortunately will be unable to slow down. The blog is intended to extend the classroom and offer more ways to interact with the material. We have to do the best we can with the available resources and requirements.
