Anthony and Alex Facebook Data

Facebook World Domination

The number of users on Facebook has grown really fast over the past several years. But how fast? By what model is it growing? And what conclusions can we draw? If the model continues, will everyone on the planet have to ;have Facebook accounts, eventually? And when will that happen?

y=a*b^x

a=1.2525

b=1.1051

y=1.2525*1.1051^x

y is the number of people with a facebook profile. x is the amount of time since the start of facebook. a is the initial amount of people at the start of facebook. b is the percent growth per month (10.51%)

1) This month, 556 million people because y=1.2525*1.1051^61 is 556. 61 is used for x because its been 61 months since the start of facebook.

2) So 6(months)+61(months)=67. y=1.2525*1.1051^67 that is 1013.172799 which is 1,013,172,799 people will have a facebook in six months.

3)Google says the world's population is 6,692,030,277. If this is true than 6692.030277=1.2525*1.1051^x

/1.2525 /1.2525

5342.938345=1.1051^x

log(5342.938345)=xlog1.1051

/log1.1051 /log1.1051

85.89=x

86-61=25

in 25 months or May 2012 every person in the world will have a facebook if the growth rate continues at a constant rate.
