Carey And Hanna Are Awesome!

FACEBOOK DOMINATION

y=1.36 (1.1^x)

We found that an exponential regression was the best model to fit our data.

In our equation, y is the total number of users on facebook, 1.36 is the people that were on facebook at its start, 1.1 is the positive, percent increase and x is the number of months since facebook was ceated.

This month there should be about 606 million people on facebook. We got this be taking our equation and plugging in 64 for x. 64 is the number of months since december of 2004 when facebook started to this april. After plugging that in we got about 606 (million).

y=1.36 (1.1^64)

6 months from now there will be about 1074 million people on facebook. We found this by plugging in 70 for x seeing as 70 is the number of months from december 2004 to 0ctiber 2010.

y=1.36 (1.1^70)

There are currently about 7,000,000,000 people on the plannet. In order for all of those people to have a facebook it would take about 234 months. I found this by taking the amount of people in the world and plugging it in for y in the equation...

7,000,000,000=1.36 (1.1^x)

I then divided both sides by 1.36 and was left with...

5147058824=1.1^x

I then took the logs of both sides and divided the log of 5147058824 be the log of 1.1. This gave me the number 234.

log(51470588240/log(1.1)=234

Harder, Faster, Stronger
To fit this data, a linear regression model was the best choice.
Men:
y= -.285x+210.487

Women:

y=86.654+-.0772x

In both equations, y represents the average time and its increase or decrease over time in the 4 by 400 meter relay of the olympics. Y is the dependent variable..

X in each equation is the eplanatory variable or the year in which the race was ran.

-.o772 represent the line and its declining average over the years.

86.654 is the y intercept of the equation when x is zero.

If i could show you the graphs, i would say that they make sense with the corresponding data. Each time varies every year, either faster or slower. One thing we do see are the times for both the men and women, but primarily men, getting faster and faster each year. I would say an amazing time for men would be a 166 second 4x4, and if the times keep decreasing at the same rate, i would predict this happening in 2044.. because at the rate they are going, they are taking about a second off the time each summer olympics.
